Aveso Named as Tekne Awards Finalist
Premier awards program recognizes Minnesota companies and
individuals for technology innovation and leadership.
Minneapolis, September 14, 2007 – Aveso, Inc.,
the leading provider of flexible displays for high volume, cost sensitive
applications, announced today that it was named as a finalist in the
category of Advanced Manufacturing - Small and Growing Companies for
the 2007 Tekne Awards. The Awards ceremony will be held at the Minneapolis
Convention Center on November 1. The Tekne Awards recognize Minnesota's
outstanding technology achievements and leaders.
Aveso is nominated for its breakthrough flexible display technology
designed for integration into credit cards. Aveso's displays
are the first in the industry that can be dropped into standard hot
lamination card manufacturing processes used by over 95% of the industry,
paving the way for widespread manufacturability of electronic display
cards. Global demand for display card products is growing rapidly
for applications such as one time password generators that increase
the security of online banking and online credit card purchases. Banks
worldwide are piloting display cards in an effort to make consumers
less vulnerable to fraud and identity theft when banking online. Future
display card applications include stored value and gift cards that
give consumers immediate access to remaining card balance.
"It is an honor to be recognized among this group of fine companies,"
said Dennis Brestovansky, president and CEO of Aveso. "We're
pleased to contribute to the growth of technology and technology jobs
in our community. The Aveso team also strives to support science and
engineering education in Minnesota, through job shadow and internship
opportunities for local high school and college students."
Presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) in partnership
with LifeScience Alley and Minnesota Technology, Inc., the Tekne Awards
annually recognize Minnesota's best and brightest technology users
and developers in innovation, development, education, commercialization
and management of technology in Minnesota. A list of finalists is
available online at www.tekneawards.org.
"The Tekne Awards have celebrated the growth of Minnesota's
technology-based companies for nearly a decade and continue to recognize
those who make groundbreaking contributions as technology continues
to change and expand," said Kate Rubin, president of MHTA. "With
the quantity and quality of award entries increasing significantly
again in 2007, this year's award finalists prove that Minnesota
is a hotbed for outstanding achievement and innovation in technology."
On Nov. 1, one recipient from a pool of three finalists will be named
in 16 categories at the Awards ceremony. Award categories recognize
leaders and technology businesses that are small and growing (with
annual revenues under $50 million) and established (with annual revenues
of $50 million or more).
This year's Tekne Awards ceremony will be emceed by Paul Douglas
of WCCO-TV.
